The photo above captures the diverse landscapes of Ontario. It was taken in the south western portion of the province and is a true depiction of the varied landscapes of Ontario. It is also a depiction of the influence of human settlement on the land. Hundred of years ago this patch of ground would have been completely treed. Now, these rolling fields have been cleared to serve a very important purpose; food.
The lesson for me is to remember the vast differences in the landscapes of Ontario. Yes, there is Toronto, the huge metropolitan area of the province, but there are also these hidden (and beautiful) landscapes. Let’s not forget the importance of rural Canada.
I’d love to hear about your favourite hidden gems in Ontario, or better yet, in Canada!
